Course Description

This interactive program is designed for health care professionals with experience in critical care and hemodynamic monitoring, who treat patients requiring Intra-aortic Balloon Pump counterpulsation.

The program covers the historical, theoretical, and clinical considerations for patients receiving counterpulsation therapy. Cardiac mechanics are reviewed. The theory and timing of balloon counterpulsation, factors affecting diastolic augmentation, indications, contraindications and potential complications are also discussed.

This program has been approved by the American Association of Critical-Care Nurses (AACN) for 1.5 CERP, Synergy CERP Category A.

This program has been approved for a maximum of 1.5 contact hour Continuing Respiratory Care Education (CRCE) credit by the American Association for Respiratory Care.
